Integrative Pelvic Bodywork in Portland, OR

Holistic pelvic care for postnatal recovery, perimenopause, menopause, and pelvic floor health.

The pelvis is much more than a structure of bones. It is the foundation that supports your entire torso, influences posture, and connects upper and lower body movement. Its alignment affects how you walk, breathe, and carry yourself through daily life. Breath, posture, and nervous system regulation are all intimately tied to pelvic function, and tension or trauma stored here can ripple outward into mobility, comfort, physical and emotional wellbeing.

It is also one of the most underserved areas of the body. Life lands in the pelvis. Our culture of prolonged sitting and driving, physical and emotional experiences, the demands of birth and postpartum recovery, the shifts through menstruation and menopause, all of it held in our pelvic tissue. Most people have never received skilled, informed, therapeutic touch in this part of their body.

This work is for people with uteruses who are navigating postnatal or surgery recovery, pelvic pain, incontinence, prolapse, perimenopause or menopause symptoms, or simply have a desire to reconnect with a part of the body that has been ignored, overworked, or underserved. It is not a pregnancy massage. Sessions are slow, consent-based, and grounded in both clinical skill and genuine care for the whole person.

Integrative pelvic bodywork can help with:

What to expect in your massage

  • Each session begins with a longer intake than a standard massage. We discuss your history, what’s present, your goals, and your comfort level. This conversation happens at every visit. Ongoing informed consent is required for this work.
  • We begin with external massage focused on the abdomen, hips, and pelvis. This releases the surrounding tissue and gives your nervous system time to settle before we move deeper. Sometimes external work is all that is needed.
  • Internal pelvic work is offered only after external work, and only with your clear and ongoing agreement. When indicated, it addresses the muscles of the pelvic floor using trigger point release, myofascial techniques, breath, and gentle muscle engagement. This approach helps soften overactive muscles, wake up underactive areas, improve circulation and lymph flow, and support the nervous system in settling and integrating change.
  • This is somatic work. Emotions, memories, and physical sensations can surface during a pelvic session. That is welcome and expected. You set the pace and we follow it together.
  • After your session give yourself time to integrate. The goal is not to fix something, but to support your body in coming into greater ease, function, and awareness. Rest, hydration, and gentle movement all support the work.

Sessions may include:

  • External bodywork to the hips, sacrum, low back, thighs, and abdomen
  • Internal vaginal work, when appropriate and agreed upon, guided by your breath, boundaries, and collaboration
  • Somatic awareness practices to support reconnection and presence in the pelvic region
  • Scar tissue work to restore mobility and reduce discomfort from childbirth or surgery
  • Education and tools to support you at home, if appropriate

Lineage & Training

My pelvic bodywork certification was completed through Leslie Stager RN, LMT, a registered nurse and licensed massage therapist who has been teaching internal pelvic bodywork to Oregon LMTs since 2012. Her Entering the Temple program is a comprehensive certification in pelvic floor bodywork that covers anatomy, internal palpation and assessment, trauma-informed care, consent protocols, and the ethics and boundaries specific to working in this intimate area of the body.
